BENEFITS UPDATE: Get ready for Annual Enrollment

Annual enrollment will be held from October 29th through November 9th, 2012. Enrollment is easy. Your 2012 benefit elections, except for your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) elections, will automatically rollover for 2013 unless you actively make changes during Annual Enrollment

Take time to review the 2013 Benefit Resources below to determine if you need to make any changes to your benefits for next year. There are very few changes in benefits from 2012 to 2013. To learn about the changes be sure to check out the 2013 Benefits at a Glance.

Qualifying Events Quick Reference Guide| Your ability to make benefit changes outside of Annual Enrollment is limited. You may make changes to your benefits only if you experience a Qualifying Event, which include: your marriage or divorce; birth or legal adoption of a child; death of a spouse or child; a change in your spouse's employment affecting your benefit coverage; or a change in child eligibility. If you need to make a change to your benefits mid- year due to one of these reasons, you must submit your online Qualifying Event request in HRconnect within 30 days from the date of the event. If you do not submit your request within 30 days, your request will be denied.

Health care and dependent care FSAs allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to help pay for your health and dependent care (i.e. child care) needs. After you incur eligible expenses and submit appropriate receipts with your completed claim form, you'll be reimbursed with tax-free dollars from your account.

Deadlines for Claims Submissions: You have until December 31st of each plan year to incur eligible claims. You must submit those claims for reimbursement by March 31st of the following year. Otherwise unused funds will be forfeited.

All associates are provided with company-paid life insurance in the amount of 1 times their base salary. This is an automatic benefit - you do not need to elect this benefit, nor do you have to submit evidence of insurability.

Associates also have the option of electing supplemental life insurance for themselves, their spouse, and/or their children. (Note: In order to elect supplemental coverage for a spouse or child(ren), the associate must also elect supplemental coverage for themselves.) Details regarding coverage amounts, premiums, and evidence of insurability rules can be found in the Benefits Guide.

All full-time associates are provided with company-paid LTD benefit in the amount of 40% of your monthly earnings, up to $7,500, if you become disabled and are approved for long-term disability coverage.

Associates also have the option of purchasing a 20% buy-up option, which will increase your LTD benefit to 60% of your monthly earnings, up to $15,000, if you become disabled and are approved for long-term disability coverage.

The CNOSave Plus 401k plan is provided to help CNO associates save tax-deferred funds for retirement. Prudential is the administrator for our 401k plan, and they offer many investment options, ranging from conservative to agressive, to help you meet your investment goals. The Transportation Savings Plan (TSP) is a tax code provision that allows you to redirect a portion of your wages, on a pre-tax basis, to pay for work-related parking and/or mass transit commuting expenses. To receive these benefits, you must elect the amount you want to contribute up to the statutory dollar amount limits. In turn you will be reimbursed for eligible expenses up to that amount on a tax-free basis. Eligible expenses include: commuter trains, park and ride, buses, parking, and van pooling (at least six passengers).
